LG Dryer tE2 Error: Thermistor Fault in Cold Conditions
Short answer: tE2 on an LG dryer is a thermistor (temperature sensor) problem that LG says usually appears in cold conditions. It can also show during steam cycles, because the duct cools quickly. Let the dryer reach normal room temperature, reset it, and call service if tE2 returns.
What tE2 means
LG says tE2 is also a thermistor problem, but one that normally shows up in cold conditions, such as a dryer in an unheated garage. LG adds that it can appear during steam cycles because the duct cools quickly. A reset is the first step.

Safe checks
- If the dryer is in a cold space, let the room and the dryer warm up before restarting.
- Unplug the dryer (or switch off its breaker), wait a few minutes and plug it back in.
- Start a normal cycle. If you were using a steam cycle, try a standard cycle first.
- If tE2 returns at normal room temperature, book LG service.
When to stop
Do not take the dryer apart to reach the sensor. If tE2 keeps returning in a warm room, or appears alongside a burning smell, stop using the dryer and arrange service.
