LG Dryer HS Error: Humidity Sensor Fault
Short answer: HS on an LG dryer means a humidity sensor error. LG notes that the dryer then runs for about 2.5 hours, so it can seem as if it is not drying. Clean the metal sensor bars just below the lint filter and call service if HS returns.
What HS means
LG says HS means a humidity sensor error. When the sensor cannot read moisture, LG notes that the dryer runs for about 2.5 hours, so it may seem as if it is not drying properly.
Source: LG's dryer error code list and the DLE3400W support page. Other LG dryers and regions can use different labels; check the rating plate inside the door and your owner's manual.
Safe checks
- Unplug the dryer (or switch off its breaker).
- Find the two curved metal sensor bars just below the lint filter, inside the door opening.
- Wipe them with a soft, damp cloth to remove residue from dryer sheets and softener, then let them dry.
- Plug the dryer in and run a sensor-dry cycle. If HS returns, book LG service.
When to stop
Do not remove the sensor bars or the lint housing. Stop and arrange service if HS returns after cleaning or if the sensor bars are loose or damaged.
