LG Dryer dE Error: Door Open or Not Latching
Short answer: dE on an LG dryer is a door error: the door is not fully closed, or it is misaligned or damaged. Clear anything caught in the door opening, close the door firmly, and arrange service if the latch or hinge is damaged.
What dE means
LG says dE is a door error: the door is not fully closed, or the door is misaligned or damaged, so the dryer will not start or keep running.
Source: LG's dryer error code list and the DLE3400W support page. Other LG dryers and regions can use different labels; check the rating plate inside the door and your owner's manual.
Safe checks
- Open the door and remove anything caught between the door and the cabinet, such as a sleeve or a blanket corner.
- Check the door catch and strike for cracks or obvious damage.
- Close the door firmly and start the cycle again.
- If the door is closed properly and dE stays on, book LG service for the door switch or alignment.
When to stop
Do not tape, wedge or bypass the door switch. A damaged hinge, a cracked catch or a door that will not stay closed needs service.
