What E22 means
Bosch says E22 means the dishwasher filter is blocked. The filter catches food particles and needs regular cleaning. Bosch's manual reference gives the same example: E:22 can indicate water in the sump because the filter is blocked or needs cleaning.

Safe checks
- Switch the dishwasher off and let hot water cool.
- Remove the filter only as shown in the exact manual. Lift out loose food and wash the filter under running water with mild soap and a soft brush.
- Reinstall the filter fully and make sure it locks in place.
- Run one rinse or short cycle. If E22 returns, stop and contact Bosch support rather than reaching into the sump.
When to stop
Use gloves for sharp debris and never reach into standing water without following the manual's power-isolation instruction. Broken glass, a damaged filter or repeat E22 needs service.
