What E04 means
Bosch says E04 indicates faulty heater electronics detected in the dishwasher's self-test. It is not a result that safely identifies a heater, board or wiring part for a do-it-yourself replacement.
Primary reference: Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes.
Safe checks
- Confirm that the display really says E04 and note the model/E-Nr.
- Reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds, following Bosch's published instruction for this electronics fault.
- After one restart, check whether the code returns. Do not run repeated heated cycles to test it.
- If E04 remains, contact Bosch or a qualified appliance technician. Leave heater and control-board work to them.
When to stop
Do not use the dishwasher if it smells hot, trips power, leaks or shows damaged insulation. Heater circuits can remain hazardous even when the front display is off.
