LG Washer UE Error: Unbalanced Load Fix

Short answer: UE on an LG front-load washer means the load is unbalanced during spin. Spread the laundry around the drum, avoid washing a single heavy item or a very small load on its own, and check that the washer is level.

What UE means

UE is an unbalanced-load message. LG explains that a load can collect on one side, be too large or too small, contain an unsuitable item, or be affected by an unlevel washer. It is not automatically a failed suspension or motor part.

Use the WM3400CW product-support page and LG's front-load error-code guide.

Safe checks

  1. Pause the cycle and wait for the door to unlock normally. Do not force it while the drum is moving.
  2. Spread the laundry around the drum. Remove a single heavy item, add a few similar items to a very small load, or reduce an overloaded load.
  3. Choose the cycle intended for bulky items rather than washing a blanket, mat or waterproof item on a normal spin.
  4. Check that the washer stands firmly on all feet. Use a level on the top and adjust only the accessible leveling feet with the machine stable.
  5. Run a small rinse-and-spin test.

When to stop

Arrange service if UE repeats with a balanced, appropriately sized load, an empty drum, or a firmly level cabinet. Stop if the washer walks, bangs violently, leaks or exposes a damaged foot.

Parts You Might Need

  • Bubble level for checking the cabinet from front to back and side to side
  • WM3400CW leveling foot, only if the existing foot is damaged and the exact part matches

Return to the LG WM3400CW code hub, or read LE if the tub will not turn even after the load is corrected.
