LG Washer LE Error: Tub Won't Spin
Short answer: LE on an LG front-load washer means the tub failed to spin, usually because of overloading or an object stuck in the drum. Reduce the load, check for objects, unplug the washer for a reset, and call service if LE returns.
What LE means
LG uses LE when the tub fails to spin normally because the motor is strained, the load is excessive, or a foreign object is interfering with rotation. LG's recommended first checks are load reduction, a visible obstruction check and a power reset.
Read the WM3400CW support page and LG front-load error-code guide.
Safe checks
- Stop the cycle, switch off and unplug the washer. Wait for the drum to stop completely.
- Remove some laundry if the load is heavy or tightly packed. A large blanket can strain the drive even when the drum looks full.
- With power disconnected, look for a coin, wire or other loose object visible at the door opening. Remove only what you can reach without disassembling the washer.
- Restore power after a short wait and test an appropriate small load. Do not repeatedly reset a machine that is grinding or unable to turn.
When to stop
Stop for grinding, burning smell, a locked drum, an LE code with an empty drum, or a repeat after the load is reduced. Do not remove the rotor, motor or cabinet panels unless qualified service is handling the repair.
Parts You Might Need
- Long-reach tweezers for a loose visible object at the door opening
- WM3400CW motor or drive part, only after an LG parts lookup and technician diagnosis
