LG Washer PE Error: Water Level Sensor Fault

Short answer: PE on an LG front-load washer means a water level sensor malfunction. Unplug the washer for a reset and try one supervised cycle. A repeat PE needs service, not a guessed replacement part.

What PE means

PE indicates a water-level sensor problem in LG's front-load washer guidance. The display does not identify whether the sensor, its air path, wiring or control needs attention, so a replacement part should not be chosen from PE alone.

Read the WM3400CW support page and LG front-load error-code list.

Safe checks

  1. Stop the cycle and switch the washer off.
  2. Check the visible water hoses for kinks or leaks and make sure the machine is not filling or overflowing.
  3. Unplug the washer for the reset interval LG recommends, then reconnect and try one supervised cycle.
  4. If PE returns, record the code and arrange service. The pressure hose and sensor are internal diagnostic points on this model.

When to stop

Stop for an overfill, leak, water remaining in the tub, a wet outlet or a repeat PE after reset. Do not blow into an internal pressure hose, pierce it, or open the cabinet to test a sensor with power applied.

Parts You Might Need

  • WM3400CW water-level sensor, only if an LG parts lookup and diagnosis agree
  • Replacement water inlet hose for a visibly damaged supply hose

Return to the LG WM3400CW code hub, or compare FE if the tub is actually overfilling.
