LG Washer OE Error: Washer Won't Drain
Short answer: OE on an LG front-load washer means it cannot drain. LG points first to a kinked drain hose or a clogged drain pump filter: clean the filter behind the lower front access cover and straighten the hose. LG lists E03 and E21 as the same message on other displays.
What OE means
OE means the washer is having trouble draining. LG points first to a kinked or blocked drain path, a blocked pump filter or excessive suds; a repeat code can indicate a pump or other fault that needs service.
See the WM3400CW support page and LG's front-load washer code guidance.
Safe checks
- Stop the cycle and let hot water cool. Unplug the washer before opening the lower service access.
- Use the model manual's drain-tube procedure if fitted. Put a shallow pan and towels below the tube; open it slowly and keep water away from the outlet.
- Clean only visible debris from the pump filter and refit its cap securely. Do not reach into an energized pump or remove internal hoses.
- Check the visible rear drain hose for a kink and run an empty drain or spin test. Use less HE detergent if heavy suds were present.
When to stop
Stop for a filter cap that will not turn, a leak, sharp debris, a pump that only hums, or OE returning after the filter and hose are clear. Service is safer than dismantling the pump or cabinet.
Parts You Might Need
- Low-profile drain pan for controlled pump-filter draining
- WM3400CW drain pump or filter part, only after diagnosis and exact model lookup
