What This Error Means
F26 on Bose QuietComfort headphones is a generic internal fault / firmware failure code, usually seen in the Bose Music or Bose Connect app.
Plain English: the headphones brain crashed at startup, so power, charging, or Bluetooth don’t boot correctly.
Official Fix
Bose doesn’t publish a special F26 routine, but their official playbook for this kind of internal error is:
- 1. Power them fully off. Turn the headphones off and leave them off for at least 30 seconds.
- 2. Give them a proper charge. Plug into a wall USB charger (not a computer) using a known-good USB cable. Let them charge for at least 2 hours, even if the light says they’re done.
- 3. Run the standard Bose reset. With the headphones unplugged from USB, turn them off and wait 30 seconds. Plug into USB power for about 5 seconds, then unplug. Wait 1 full minute, then turn them back on and test.
